Overview

A Child Support Assistant is required for 5 hours per week in term-time with extra hours available in the school holidays. The role involves supporting a young boy with a physical disability and assisting his mother with activities such as taking him and his older brother swimming on Fridays after school, and providing additional support in the home.

Hours and Pay

Term time: two sessions of 2.5 hours (potentially Monday and Friday; Friday hours are 3.30-5.30pm). Holidays: one session of 5 hours with the availability to have another five hours in some weeks. The rate of pay is £13.25 per hour.

Note: The advertisement later lists Pay: £12.10 per hour.

Duties

• All personal care as he is unable to toilet independently and needs help with showering and getting dressed.
• Help him go out on trips and general duties such as reading, playing, getting ready for bed, and helping with meals.
• Support due to Tar Syndrome; provide supervision and assistance to keep him safe. He is unable to break his fall and finds getting in and out of the car difficult. Some lifting is required.
• Assist with sensory needs and provide appropriate support.

Requirements and Details

• DBS check required for this position.
• Location: rural Slingsby (YO62). A driver is needed; there is a car on Motability available, but the driver must be over 25 years old to use it while caring for him.
• Experience with special needs preferred; driving licence preferred.
