Job description
The Opportunity

The Chief Electrical Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting major gas transmission projects within the energy sector. Operating primarily on a remote basis, with occasional ad‑hoc visits to the Manchester office, you will ensure that all design packs meet rigorous technical and legislative standards.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Provide bid support across project risk, programme, and enquiry/bid evaluations.
  • Deliver technical support and assurance for design packs (DCAAR).
  • Ensure compliance with UK legislation, standards, and sector‑specific requirements.
  • Contribute to technical assurance and risk management activities.
  • Engage with stakeholders to support project delivery and maintain customer focus.
You will have the following qualifications & experience
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a recognised professional body.
It’s great if you also have the following
  • Extensive knowledge of design working practices and installation requirements in energy transmission projects.
  • Proven experience performing the role of Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE).
  • Previous experience of engineering experience in energy or related sectors.
  • Strong understanding of UK legislation, standards, and HSE requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability in risk identification, quantification, and management.
