Job Context
Gulshan Club Limited, one of the most prestigious and well-established social clubs in Bangladesh, is seeking an experienced and competent Chief Accountant to lead its Finance & Accounts Department. The incumbent will be responsible for overall financial management, statutory compliance, audit coordination, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal control of the Club.
Job Responsibilities
- Act as the Head of Finance & Accounts, overseeing all accounting and financial activities of the Club.
- Supervise, review, and verify all financial transactions, books of accounts, and records maintained by the Accounts Department.
- Ensure proper recording, classification, and summarization of financial transactions in compliance with GAAP/IFRS, applicable laws, and the Club's Financial Rules and Manuals.
- Prepare, review, and finalize monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual financial statements, including Income & Expenditure Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement, and Departmental Accounts.
- Review and verify monthly salary, allowances, deductions, and statutory payments of the Club.
- Develop, implement, and monitor an effective internal control system, including physical verification of inventories and fixed assets.
- Ensure daily sales reports, cash collections, and card payment slips are properly submitted from all departments and identify any irregularities for corrective action.
- Ensure timely deposit of all departmental collections to the Accounts Department and bank deposits of cash and cheques.
- Coordinate with Income Tax, VAT authorities, RJSC, and other regulatory bodies to ensure statutory compliance.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, arrange statutory audits, and place audited financial statements before the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
- Arrange and oversee internal audits of quarterly financial accounts and present audit reports to the Finance Committee and Audit Committee.
- Assist Management in budget preparation, forecasting, variance analysis, cost control, and financial planning.
- Provide financial advice and analysis to Management on operational and strategic matters.
- Supervise and control all Accounts Department staff and employees involved in accounts-related activities.
- Countersign all payment vouchers, salary sheets, requisition forms, purchase orders, MRRs, and related financial documents.
- Represent Management in matters related to the Provident Fund Trustee Board and Employees' Gratuity Fund.
- Attend Finance Committee and Board of Directors' meetings to present financial information and recommendations.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Secretary, Director Finance, Board of Directors, or the President of the Club.
