Job description

Prospero Teaching is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Chemistry Technician to join a high‑performing Science Department at a secondary school in Croxley Green, Rickmansworth. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about chemistry and laboratory support to contribute to an outstanding learning environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting practical science lessons across Key Stages 3–5, preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring health and safety standards are upheld. You will be joining a collaborative and experienced Science Department with excellent resources, strong academic results, and a strong culture of teamwork.

The school prides itself on its exceptional science provision, offering engaging practical lessons, STEM opportunities, study clubs, and a popular GCSE and A‑Level science pathway. You will also work closely with a team of three technicians who provide vital support to teachers and students.

Experience, Training and Qualifications

• Experience in a laboratory or technician setting (school or industry)
• Science qualification(s), ideally chemistry‑related
• Knowledge of safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals
• Understanding of health and safety procedures in a lab environment
• Up‑to‑date safeguarding training (issued within the last year)

Eligibility Requirements

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered on the update service, or be willing to apply for one
• Provide two professional references covering the last 2 years
