Join SA Consulting, a respected Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy with offices in Derby and Ipswich (operating as Stroud Associates). Established more than 20 years ago, we have built a strong reputation for delivering innovative and practical engineering design solutions across residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects. Our senior staff bring over 30 years of experience, and we are committed to mentoring and developing the next generation of engineers.

We are now looking for talented Chartered Structural Engineers or near-Chartered engineers to strengthen our teams in Derby and Ipswich. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious engineer to take on responsibility, lead projects, and play a key role in the growth of our consultancy.

The Role – Chartered / Near-Chartered Structural Engineer

As a Chartered Structural Engineer with SA Consulting, you will:

• Work on a wide range of residential and commercial structural engineering projects.
• Manage multiple small and medium-sized projects from concept design through to construction.
• Draft your own designs to construction level using AutoCAD (Revit desirable).
• Liaise directly with clients, prepare quotations, issue invoices, and attend site visits, meetings, and inspections.
• Ensure designs comply with Eurocodes, with knowledge of British Standards desirable.
• Mentor and manage junior engineers on their route to chartership, supporting the development of our growing team.

This is a client-facing role offering significant responsibility, with the chance to shape projects and influence the future growth of the practice.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for an ambitious, technically strong, and client-focused engineer. You will need:

• Chartered or near-Chartered status (MIStructE or equivalent), with a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience.
• Strong design skills in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry to Eurocodes (British Standards beneficial).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience desirable).
• Experience with MasterSeries or Tekla Structural Designer software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, delivering on time and within budget.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write clear technical reports.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Permanent right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available).
