Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer - Associate Level

Location: Barnsley (Hybrid: 3 days office, 2 days remote)

Salary: £55,000-£70,000

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity for a Chartered Engineer (CEng, IStructE or MICE) to lead technically complex and high-risk civil/structural projects. This Associate-level position offers the chance to shape design strategies, guide multi-disciplinary teams, and contribute to business growth across infrastructure, energy, and rail sectors.

You will act as a technical lead, overseeing design delivery, coordinating cross-disciplinary teams, and managing client engagement, while gaining exposure to commercial responsibilities and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical delivery on major and high-risk civil/structural projects
  • Oversee multi-disciplinary design teams and coordinate inputs across disciplines
  • Plan and manage project resources, schedules, and client engagement
  • Lead bids, proposals, and business development initiatives
  • Serve in formal leadership roles such as Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE)
  • Support commercial management and project profitability
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff
Requirements
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IStructE or ICE
  • Strong experience in infrastructure, energy, or rail projects
  • Proven team leadership, client-facing experience, and cross-discipline coordination
  • Commercial awareness and ability to support strategic growth initiatives
  • Familiarity with BIM Level 2 workflows and ISO 19650 compliance is preferred
