Job description
Role Overview

Design solutions with the use of CAD for modifications to aircraft cabin systems such as LOPA changes, Passenger Service Units (PSU), emergency equipment, galleys, monuments, lavatories, and interior environmental systems (air conditioning, water and waste). Introduce new aircraft paint schemes (liveries) and emergency marking systems, and install or modify OFCR (Overhead Flight Crew Rest) and OCRS (Overhead Crew Rest Station) according to customer requirements.

Produce substantiation documents to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory and operational requirements, including flammability documentation, design reports (egress, direct view, etc.), ground test plans and reports, cabin walk‑through plans, and system safety analysis for interior components and systems. Compile engineering accomplishment documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness, including service bulletins, accomplishment instructions, and aircraft/component manual supplements.

Attend various meetings and represent Boeing on aircraft surveys and on‑site installation support at UK and overseas locations. Support statement of work and bids for new customer requests, and work closely with customers, vendors, MROs, regulatory agencies and other teams within the company to create engineering solutions that exceed expectations on time and within budget. Undertake all manner of design projects from simple changes to complex Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs). Participate in multiple instructor‑led training courses for hard and soft skills improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Modify existing aircraft environmental systems (air conditioning, water, waste).

  • Develop ground test plans and reports.
  • Create cabin walk‑through plans and reports.
  • Conduct system safety analysis for interior components and systems.
  • Compile engineering accomplishment documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness.
  • Attend meetings, represent Boeing on aircraft surveys, and provide on‑site installation support.
  • Support statement of work and bids for new customer requests.
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, MROs, regulatory agencies, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Undertake design projects from simple changes to complex STCs.
  • Attend multiple instructor‑led training courses for hard and soft skills improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience within the aerospace industry, specifically with an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation (or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in 3DX, CATIA V5, and/or AutoCAD industrial software.
  • Knowledge of aircraft interior reconfiguration programmes.
  • Working knowledge of sheet‑metal forming/fabrication/machining.
  • Understanding of aircraft material and fastener selection, hole size types, sealants and finishing.
  • Working knowledge of EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements, including (E)TSO, CS‑25, CFR Part 25, and Part 21J.
  • High level of attention to detail and professional integrity.
  • Ability to work on multiple programmes with varying levels of requirements efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and show flexibility to changing situations/demands.
Preferred Skills / Experience
  • Experience in EASA Part 21J Design Organisation or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in 3DX, CATIA V5 and/or AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of aircraft interior reconfiguration programmes.
  • Experience with sheet‑metal forming/fabrication/machining.
  • Knowledge of aircraft material and fastener selection, hole size types, sealants & finishing.
  • Understanding of EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements (E TSO, CS‑25, CFR Part 25, Part 21J).
