Job summary

A leading insurance firm seeks a qualified individual for a critical role in their Ceded Finance and Operations function. The candidate will coordinate ceded contract administration, analyze premium results, and ensure compliance with operational controls. We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of reinsurance contracts, data analysis skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. The ideal applicant will work closely with internal and external clients to support timely decision-making and reporting. This role requires being present at the office in London at least 3 days per week.

The Ceded Finance and Operations function is responsible for delivering a strategic and forward-looking organization that will:

  • Advance the Company’s growth and profitability goals through the enablement of the Ceded strategy.
  • Provide clear accountability for outward reinsurance contracts, outwards reinsurance controls and outward reinsurance reporting.
  • Drive process excellence and better data and analytics through technological enablement and team collaboration.
What will you do in this role?
  • Coordinate the ceded contract administration processing after placement.
  • Support reading and interpreting ceded contracts to setup treaty contract terms for processing in reinsurance systems. You may be required to summarise the material elements/terms of the contract.
  • Enter contracts into AXIS Reinsurance Calculator (ARC) and assist with analysis of calculated results.
  • Coordinate entry and approval of contracts into ProCede. You may be required to create or review ProCede Change Forms (PCFs) to assist with the data entry into the application.
  • Assist with ceded premium month end close process including review and validation of reinsurance premium transactions.
  • Asist with internal status or KPI reporting for contract administration end-to-end process.
  • Perform ceded premium analysis to validate, investigate and explain ceded results.
  • Assist with contractual obligation processing and market communications. You may be required to produce premium adjustment, profit commission or reinstatement premium calculations for review by peers/Line Manager before distributing externally.
  • Assist with contractual or requested commutations, liaising with various internal and external parties as necessary.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external clients to ensure timely responses to inquiries and communications.
  • Assist with claims and underwriting when necessary to resolve any queries specifically raised.
  • Support departmental compliance with operational controls including but not limited to SOX controls. You may be required to produce documentation to provide support/evidence of compliance.

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

What you need to have:
  • Have a working knowledge of reinsurance contracts and resulting reporting requirements to assure accurate interpretation, implementation and processing.
  • Able to analyse data/figures and use reconciliation techniques to validate or identify differences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Able to perform complex functions in Excel such as pivot tables and lookups.
  • Self-motivated and organized to drive company initiatives, able to demonstrate accountability, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, work under pressure and respond to changing priorities.
  • Team player with ability to collaborate with internal and external customers, understand the needs and goals of a customer and actively look for ways to meet them.
  • Able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, including writing reports and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Be comfortable working with numeric data sets and able to analyse and problem solve when required.

What we prefer you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • Hands on experience with ceded reinsurance and financial systems (especially ProCede and Oracle/SmartView).
  • Internationally recognized accounting qualification pursuit or equivalent experience (CPA, ARe, CPCU).
  • Practical knowledge experience of retrocession and/or third-party capital industry with operations and reporting experience.
Role Factors:

In this role, you will typically be required to be present in the London Office a minimum of 3 days per week.
