Job summary

The Education Authority in Belfast is seeking a Cook to assist the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor with meal preparation and cooking, contributing to a hygienic, efficient service and customer satisfaction.

You will help with menu planning, portion control, stock handling and staff supervision, while supporting general kitchen operations and promoting the service to parents and customers.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or higher qualification.
• Two years’ experience of food preparation and cooking within a catering establishment.
• Knowledge of HACCP.
• Willingness to undertake job related training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with skilled cooking activities across the full range of meals and menu preparation.
• Record keeping and hygiene, including temperature control and safety.
• Direction and/or shared supervision of other staff.
• Operational control of service points including transported meals.
• Stock-taking, stores/fridges management and delivery reception.
• General kitchen duties including cleaning and setup.
