Overview

Category Manager — Location: Plymouth, with hybrid working available. Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent. Salary: Up to £38,000 p.a. (DOE) plus performance bonus.

Delt Shared Services is looking for an experienced Category Manager to lead the procurement of key categories, ensuring strategic sourcing and supplier management deliver maximum value to the organisation.

As a key member of the Procurement Team, you will define and implement sourcing strategies for non-pay goods and services across multiple categories, balancing quality, cost, and risk management. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement decisions align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead contract renewals, category negotiations, and procurement strategy development.
  • Conduct in-depth market analysis to inform procurement strategies.
  • Develop expertise across all assigned categories to ensure value-driven procurement.
  • Drive savings and efficiencies in line with the category management plan.
  • Advise on best procurement practices and ensure compliance with public sector regulations.
  • Provide procurement guidance to senior leadership and internal stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
  • Significant experience in procurement and category management, ideally within infrastructure.
  • MCIPS qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of delivering financial and operational benefits.
  • Experience managing supplier partnerships and commercial contracts.
  • Knowledge of procurement legislation and EU regulations in the public sector.
  • Excellent analytical, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
