Job description

We have the opportunity for a permanent Catastrophe Risk Analyst to join our Exposure Management department here at Tokio Marine Kiln. You will report to the Catastrophe Risk Manager and carry out exposure data capture, natural catastrophe modelling analysis and reporting using Moody's RMS catastrophe models.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting with key Exposure Management and Catastrophe Modelling capability in respect of all relevant entities managed by TMK:
    • to the Underwriting teams to support them in exposure data capture, risk assessment, pricing, portfolio management and controlling the assumption of exposure;
    • to the management of TMK, Actuarial and Risk teams regarding portfolio management, capital setting and capital utilisation.
    • to EMT with regards to developing and enhancing catastrophe modelling and exposure management processes.
  • To act as a key resource to assist EMT with prompt data capture, catastrophe modelling analysis and delivery of reports to underwriting teams
  • To assist in quarterly EMT activities relating to portfolio natural catastrophe exposure and risk, including data capture, analysis, and reporting
  • To gain a deep understanding of the data, systems, processes, reporting, and analytics used within EMT
  • Data manipulation and analysis, including improvements in processes and reporting for day‑to‑day Exposure Management activities
  • Self‑development including training on new software and models
  • Working with wider Actuarial, Underwriting and Risk teams as required on cross‑team projects
Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a strong academic background with a bachelor's degree in Science, Mathematics, Geography or equivalent and strong performance at A levels or equivalent. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and programming languages such as SQL, R, Python, VBA would be an advantage, as would prior knowledge of catastrophe modelling and insurance. We are open to receiving applications from graduates with no working experience. We are looking for someone with strong analytical, quantitative, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills, who also has excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
