Job description
Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Carpenter to undertake heavy first-fix carpentry work on a new build residential development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural carpentry, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently within a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out first-fix carpentry including:
    • Structural studwork and partition walls
    • Joists, trussed roofs, and structural timber installation
    • Staircase fitting, framing, and associated structural components
    • Window and door frame installation
    • Sub-flooring, decking, and sheathing
  • Interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications accurately.
  • Work alongside site management and other trades to ensure smooth workflow and timely project progression.
  • Use power tools and carpentry equipment safely and competently in line with site protocols.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship while meeting project deadlines.
  • Adhere to all health & safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
  • Assist in resolving on-site technical or structural challenges as needed.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a First-Fix Carpenter on residential new build projects.
  • Strong understanding of structural timber work and construction sequencing.
  • Competence in using a wide range of carpentry tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Own tools and PPE.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent).
  • Experience working on high end housing developments (preffered)
