Job summary

Porthaven Care Homes in Burford is seeking a Senior Care Assistant to lead a team of Carers and Senior Carers in delivering person-centred care to residents. The role focuses on maintaining residents' dignity and individuality, with 8am–8pm day shifts and a 42-hour week, including alternating weekends.

You will supervise care plans, administer medication, and collaborate with families and healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• Willing to work towards NVQ Level 3 or hold it.
• Experience in a care home, Senior Carer preferred.
• Ability to administer medication and update care plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Carers and Senior Carers in daily operations of the home.
• Communicate with residents' families and healthcare professionals to write/adapt care plans.
• Administer medication and complete risk assessments.

• You have previous experience in a care home environment, ideally in a Senior Carer role.
• You are confident in administering medication within a care home setting, including supporting multiple residents.
• You understand care planning and are comfortable updating or creating care plans.
• You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• You have strong leadership skills and can motivate and support those around you.
• Most importantly, you have a natural desire to help others and thrive within a team of Senior Carers and Care Team Leaders, all committed to providing the highest standard of care for our residents.

About the role:

Leading a team of Carers and Senior Carers, you will deliver person‑centred care to our residents to ensure they retain their dignity and individuality. By leading a happy and competent team, you can really make a difference in your home and also the local community. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and inspiring a team of Carers and Senior Carers in the day to day running of the home.
• Communicating regularly with our residents' families and Health care professionals to write and adapt care plans.
• Administering medication and completing risk assessments
• Ensuring the needs of the residents are always met.
• Ensuring residents daily records are up to date and accurately reflect the care provided.

The successful candidate will be subject to the provision of satisfactory references and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and they must be authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
