Job summary

Porthaven Care Homes in Harpenden is seeking a Senior Care Assistant or Care Team Leader to advance your career in dementia care. You will lead a compassionate team, develop person-centred care plans, and drive improvements across daily routines and activities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior role such as Senior Carer, Team Leader, or equivalent, with hands-on experience caring for individuals living with Dementia.
• An NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (or Diploma in Health and Social Care).
• A strong understanding of person-centred care planning and risk management tailored to individual residents or service users.
• A cheerful, compassionate, and caring nature, with the ability to build trusting relationships with your care team, residents, and their families.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling you to clearly and professionally document and represent residents' needs through accurate care planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead, inspire, and support a team of carers and senior carers, fostering a positive, can-do attitude across your team.
• Carry out regular care audits, analyse care trends and information, and lead care staff to ensure ongoing improvement.
• Promote an open, transparent, and supportive culture, encouraging loyalty, commitment, and teamwork.
• Deliver and lead on excellent, person-centered dementia care that upholds dignity, individuality, and the highest standards of professional practice.
• Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, Porthaven's policies and procedures, and all relevant legislation.
• Work collaboratively with the Home Manager, while also receiving support, guidance, and training from Porthaven's Head of Dementia through virtual and on-site meetings.
