Cardiac Physiologist / Healthcare Scientist in Ambulatory

The role of the Cardiac Physiologist/healthcare scientist is to undertake ambulatory cardiology diagnostic testing mainly as part of the Community Diagnostic Centre.The hospital is increasing its activity levels and offers full ambulatory and transthoracic echo services. The role is to expand the establishment to continue to provide our high standards.

Main duties of the job

Technical dutiesUndertake 12 Lead Electrocardiograms (occasional)Operate Spacelabs Sentinel/pathfinder systems to provide standardized cardiology reports.Configure both ECG and BP monitors to local protocols.Attach and instruct patients on the ambulatory BP monitor using.Download, interpret, and provide reports for these BP tests.Attach and instruct patients on the ambulatory ECG monitors. (frequently)Download full recording utilizing the Sentinel system in Lifescreen and Pathfinder analysis.Provide all reports; interpretation of a life-threatening arrhythmia occurs following local escalation protocol.Assure all consumables present for testing.Provide accurate charge sheets and patient lists.Be fully aware of all cardiac equipment within the establishment which may be needed to assist our patients.Participate in audits, research, and development when required.To be aware of all policies appropriate to post.Assist and perform duties delegated by Hospital manager that are within capabilities.Be ILS trained or a minimum of BLS with AED annually.Assist in Echo technical admin tasks where required.Assist the echo team with stock and patient preparation where required. (Frequently)Some exposure to undertake echo may be possible and expand in the future as services develop.

Qualifications
  • AHSC or RCCP registration
  • Cardiac physiology qualification or equivalence (eg Clinical cardiology degree, PTP HCS etc)
  • Strong IT skills, proficient in computer skills to include word, excel and outlook
  • Ability to prepare and present on topics in cardiology/ service delivery (Rare)
  • Confident and reassuring demeanor
  • Experience of full ambulatory analysis to support juniors.
  • Experience in triage processes
  • SCST certificate or diploma
  • Basic Life Support certificate training will be provided, and full compliance will be required as part of your probation period
