Job description
Call for Talks – Oxford Digital Humanities Summer School

We are organising a 5‑day Wolfram Language workshop, “Analysing Humanities Data: An Introduction to Knowledge‑Based Computing with the Wolfram Language,” at Oxford’s Digital Humanities Summer School (July 4‑8). We seek one or two experienced Wolfram Language users to deliver a 45‑minute to 1‑hour presentation on topics relevant to humanities research.

Potential presentation topics (examples):

  • Geospatial and geocomputation
  • Network analysis
  • Graphing & plotting
  • Time‑series analysis
  • Introduction to machine learning
  • Sound analysis & sonification
  • Using Mathematica with R‑Link

Speakers will receive: accommodation (up to two nights), covered travel within the UK, and support in preparing materials. If you would like to stay longer, you may give a second talk or assist with running the class.

The workshop schedule:

  1. Wolfram Language fundamentals
  2. Texts, graphs, & networks
  3. Image processing, sound analysis, & machine learning
  4. Semantic import, geographic visualization, & geocomputing
  5. Saving & sharing applications and data in the cloud

We are particularly interested in talks that cross disciplinary boundaries and help demonstrate the Wolfram Language as a bridge between the humanities and other research areas.

To apply, please email your proposed topic and a brief bio (including any relevant WL experience) to arno.bosse@gmail.com.
