A leading design and engineering organisation is seeking an experienced CAD Technician to join their team onsite in Milton Keynes. This role involves producing detailed construction and fabrication drawings, creating accurate bills of materials, and collaborating with internal and external teams. The ideal candidate has over 5 years of experience in structural or civil engineering and possesses strong AutoCAD 2D skills. This position offers a full-time permanent contract with working hours from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

A leading design and engineering organisation is looking for an experienced CAD Technician to join their team onsite. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical drawing experience who enjoys working on varied, bespoke structural projects.

About the Role

You’ll play a key role in producing detailed construction and fabrication drawings, supporting the delivery of staging, seating, grandstands, and other temporary or bespoke structures. Working closely with design leads, project managers, and client technical teams, you will help ensure that all structures are accurately detailed, compliant, and ready for fabrication.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality 2D construction and fabrication drawings
• Create accurate bills of materials
• Select appropriate materials based on structural specifications
• Collaborate with internal teams and external client engineers
• Develop and refine design concepts using CAD software
• Ensure compliance with relevant building codes and safety regulations
• Maintain strong attention to Health & Safety requirements across all work

Essential Skills & Experience

• 5+ years’ experience in a structural or civil engineering setting
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical standards, and design specifications
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Desirable (Not Essential)

• Experience with AutoCAD 3D, Revit, or SketchUp
• Background in temporary structures, fabrication, or bespoke engineered solutions
