Job summary

A leading construction firm in Kent is looking for an experienced Buyer to join their team. The Buyer will handle purchasing, assist in negotiations, and maintain supplier relationships. Ideal candidates should have procurement experience, effective communication skills, and attention to detail. The salary ranges from £27,500 to £30,000 depending on experience. This is a full-time role based in Maidstone.

Qualifications

• Previous procurement or buying experience, ideally within the construction industry.
• Confidence using Outlook and communicating with suppliers and customers by phone.
• Physically fit to bring in deliveries and move stock in the yard.
• Attention to detail and basic maths is essential.

Overview

We are currently working with a leading Kent-based construction company that operates across the South East. Due to substantial growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Buyer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities

• The Buyer will assist with purchasing for the organisation including processing orders and supply chain management.
• You will support the Procurement Manager in negotiating the best terms and ensure suppliers have been approved by the company.
• Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions and monitor spend against job budgets.
• Liaise with project managers regarding materials, quantities, and delivery dates.
• Assist with receipt of deliveries and stock control.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers.

Qualifications

• Previous procurement or buying experience, ideally within the construction industry (but this is not essential).
• Confidence using Outlook and communicating with suppliers and customers by phone.
• Physically fit to bring in deliveries and move stock in the yard where needed.
• Attention to detail and basic maths is essential.

Salary and Hours

Salary will be £27,500 to £30,000 depending on experience. Hours are Monday to Friday 8 am – 5 pm.
