Business Development Manager - MMO (Southern England)

Location: Reading (covering Southern England)
Salary: 60,000 - 70,000 + 5,600 car allowance + bonus
Contract Type: Permanent

Are you an experienced Business Development professional with a strong track record across industrial, engineering or complex maintenance environments? I'm supporting a leading UK engineering and asset maintenance provider in the recruitment of a Business Development Manager to drive growth across Southern England.

This organisation delivers multi-discipline engineering, maintenance, project and operational support services across a range of regulated and process-driven industries. With over 4,500 employees, 14 UK sites and a reputation for safety, technical expertise and long-term client partnerships, they are well-positioned for further expansion - and this role is pivotal to that strategy.

The Opportunity

As Business Development Manager, you'll take ownership of delivering the business growth strategy across key sectors, including Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Process, Power, Pharmaceuticals, Biopharma and broader industrial markets.

Your focus will include:

  • Driving new business growth through proactive market engagement and innovative BD strategies
  • Achieving sales and gross profit targets aligned with regional and national goals
  • Networking with senior stakeholders to identify, nurture and convert opportunities
  • Identifying emerging opportunities and new markets, contributing to strategic planning
  • Supporting the development of sector strategies and regional BD plans
  • Leading negotiations and guiding deals through to contract award and implementation
  • Managing long-term customer relationships, enhancing client satisfaction and retention
  • Leveraging CRM tools to manage pipeline, reporting and activity tracking
  • Supporting marketing and proposal efforts, including win theme development
  • Working closely with operational leaders to ensure Key Accounts are developed and maximised

This is a high-impact position suited to someone who thrives on autonomy, senior-level engagement, and delivering tangible commercial results.

About You

To be a strong fit, you should have:

  • A successful track record in Business Development and sales conversion at a senior level
  • Experience across Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Process, Power or Pharma (strongly preferred)
  • Exposure to multi-discipline maintenance frameworks, construction projects or turnarounds
  • Operational understanding gained from customer-side or supply‑chain roles
  • Excellent communication skills, able to produce compelling proposals and presentations
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced environments
  • A self‑motivated, target‑driven, relationship‑led approach
  • HNC/HND/Degree‑level qualifications (preferred)
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Southern England (Reading‑based role)
