This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward‑thinking organisation in the energy efficiency and sustainability sector, working closely with the Head of Growth to uncover, qualify and drive new opportunities that fuel long‑term impact.
This isn’t an entry‑level position — you’ll need solid experience in research, business development, strategy or policy analysis. If you love digging into data, tracking industry and policy shifts, spotting the opportunities others miss, and turning intelligence into actionable growth ideas… you’ll thrive here.
What you’ll be doing
In this high‑impact role, you’ll support both commercial and operational teams by gathering, analysing and presenting intelligence that shapes new services, proposals and product development. You’ll work across a wide variety of opportunities — building a strong pipeline that connects the organisation to funding streams that matter.
- Government‑backed energy efficiency schemes
- Corporate, non‑government and charitable funding
- Innovation, research and demonstrator projects
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor national, regional and local policy developments across energy, climate and housing — identifying opportunities for funded programmes.
- Track industry and competitor activity, including mergers, tech innovation and sector trends.
- Conduct research into CSR/ESG strategies, social value commitments and sustainability reporting to uncover potential funding sources.
- Analyse business plans from key organisations such as utility companies, housing providers and public health bodies.
- Carry out SWOT, competitor and market analyses to support business cases.
- Produce briefings and insight reports to support bids, meetings and stakeholder engagement.
- Work with business development and growth leads to identify and qualify new funding and contract opportunities.
- Contribute to the early development of new service concepts, commercial ideas and product innovations.
- Map timelines, priorities and funding windows against current and future services to inform strategic planning.
- Keep a clear log of insights, research and stakeholder interactions to support coordinated planning.
- Participate in internal scoping meetings and help shape research priorities.
- Present findings through engaging written summaries, visual reports, presentations or dashboards.
- Produce short profiles, funder summaries and themed opportunity reports when potential growth areas are identified.
- Support the creation of tailored tender content, proposals and engagement materials based on your insights.
What you’ll need (Essential)
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, actionable insights.
- Experience in research, strategy or policy analysis role.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and/or online research tools to produce insight reports.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and work with a range of stakeholders.
- A collaborative, proactive approach and flexibility across teams.
- A genuine passion for using commercial activity to deliver social impact and support vulnerable customers.
Desirable
- Experience in commercial, energy or policy/regulatory environments.
- Understanding of public sector procurement or funding processes.
