Job summary

A local recruitment firm is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor (Repairs) for a temporary position with Harlow District Council. Building Surveyor - Repairs
Temporary, Full Time
£400.00 (umbrella)
We are delighted to be supporting Harlow District Council to recruit a temporary Building Surveyor (Repairs) on a 6-12-month basis. Please note that this post requires the successful individual to be based on site 3-4 days per week.

The role:

We are looking for an experienced Repairs Building Surveyor to join our team. You will play a key role in diagnosing building defects, specifying repairs, and ensuring high-quality maintenance works across our property portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on the safety, quality, and longevity of our homes.

  • Conduct detailed inspections of properties to identify building defects and maintenance issues
  • Diagnose root causes of disrepair and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Prepare schedules of works, specifications, and cost estimates for repairs and maintenance projects
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations, health & safety standards, and company policies
  • Oversee contractors and suppliers to ensure works are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
  • Liaise with tenants, landlords, and internal teams to provide clear communication and updates on repair works
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, works, and costs, and prepare reports for management
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in building surveying, repairs, and maintenance within residential or commercial property sectors
  • Strong knowledge of building construction, materials, and relevant legislation
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., RICS, CIOB) desirable
