Job description
Overview

We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join our Repairs and Maintenance team, supporting the delivery of high-quality property services across the North London region.

The role involves carrying out inspections of occupied and vacant homes, providing technical advice, managing complex repair projects, and ensuring value for money, quality, and customer satisfaction. You'll also handle damp and mould surveys, prepare condition reports, and specify remedial works.

This position requires strong communication and stakeholder management skills, as well as the ability to manage budgets, liaise with contractors, and oversee insurance-related works such as fire and flood damage.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed property inspections and specify repair works
  • Manage contractor performance, ensuring quality and compliance with standards
  • Provide accurate cost estimates and technical advice
  • Handle resident complaints, MP, and councillor enquiries through to resolution
  • Support the disrepair process and ensure cases are managed efficiently
  • Oversee budget management and authorisation of expenditure
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety requirements
What We're Looking For
  • HNC, HND, or similar qualification in Building Surveying (or extensive relevant experience)
  • Experience working within social housing or similar environments
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, housing law, and NHF Schedule of Rates
  • Proven experience managing budgets and contractors
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Confident in carrying out complex property inspections and producing specifications
