A leading NHS foundation trust is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to support the Bone Bank Service in Exeter. This role involves assessing patient suitability for bone donation and ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines. The successful candidate will train staff, manage records, and assist in the retrieval of femoral heads for surgeries. There is an opportunity to work along side the Band 7 in the Bone Bank Service in the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre. You will be responsible for assessing patients suitability for femoral head bone donation and obtaining their consent. You will also be responsible for checking results and completing relevant paperwork and inputting on the system. You will be required to train new members of staff in theatre and updating this training when required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Theatre Practitioner to support the existing Band 7 team at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Hospital in Exeter. This role is within a growing service that focuses on the donation and processing of allografts, specifically harvesting femoral heads for use in bone grafting during revision and spinal surgeries.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe and ethical retrieval of bone tissue, in full compliance with regulations set by the Human Tissue Authority (HTA). You will be responsible for training staff in the critical procedures involved in bone donation, including patient consent processes, as well as maintaining high standards of care throughout.
