Job Description

Plans, designs, develops, analyzes, communicates, optimizes and implements Benefits strategies, goals, projects and programs consistent with the business, Total Rewards, and People strategies across the businesses, functions, and/or geographic areas of the company. Consults with and trains business leaders and stakeholders to develop, plan and implement Benefits solutions to address unique organizational needs and requirements. Manages consultants, vendors, brokers, employees, a variety of internal and external stakeholders, and third parties; including Unions, Regulatory Authorities, Lawyers, and Works Councils, for example, in a heavily matrixed organization to ensure program delivery. Analyzes and interprets internal and external data and trends to model changes to various reward and benefits plans and processes including medical, health and wellbeing and retirement plans. Examines impact of Benefits on the total organization and various sub-groups, including Board members, executives, sales employees, RemCo, and specific business segments. Monitors legal and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and competitiveness. Integrates reward programs with complimentary systems (e.g., Performance Management and Talent Management, for example).

Responsibilities

  • Leads Benefits team within Total Rewards, duties include goal setting performance goals and objectives, staffing project teams, and ensuring timely and effective delivery of benefits programs.
  • Sets and manages program expectations for implementation across different businesses and/or geographies; motivates, coaches, and fosters creativity within teams.
  • Oversees the execution of vendor and broker changes, plan coverage changes, retiring of plans/vendors, and adding new plans, all across a broad employee base.
  • Provides guidance on programs as a SME (subject matter expert) and designs plans, processes and programs of moderate to high complexity.
  • Is accountable for impact analysis of benefits programs and initiatives and the financial and legal outcomes of programs, with a view to delivering great impact in a cost effective and engaging way.
  • Contributes to the development of total rewards strategy, projects, and corporate initiatives.
  • Identifies potential compliance issues, and recommends and manages solutions.
  • Communicates and consults stakeholders on total rewards strategy, solutions, results delivery, and benefits guidance.
  • Manages benefits change initiatives.
  • Negotiates and influences stakeholders and related / involved parties to provide the best service and coverage for SUSE employees in the most cost effective and engaging way.
  • Play a key role in delivering an impactful EVP at SUSE.

Education And Experience Required

  • First-level university degree or equivalent experience; advanced university degree preferred.
  • Typically 6-10 years related experience in compensation, benefits, and/or human resources.
  • Typically 0-3 years supervisory experience.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Content expert in the field of compensation and/or benefits with a strong systematic knowledge of total rewards, as well as other functions.
  • Strong financial and business acumen; general industry knowledge.
  • In-depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment as it relates to employee compensation and benefits.
  • Meets the licensing or certification requirements of the relevant country or region (e.g., Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) in the US).
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, including goal-setting, conflict resolution, performance management, meeting leading, budget planning, problem solving, and evaluation.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Very strong communication and influence skills, including both written and verbal forms.
  • Very strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including competency in financial analysis.
  • Ability to apply management core competencies in working with both internal clients and external partnerships.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and interpret needs into workable programs.
