Qualifications

Overview

Are you passionate about supporting young adults with autism and learning disabilities? Do you want to work in an organisation rated 'Outstanding' by the CQC?

We are currently recruiting for full time staff to work on established home and community-based programmes across London, primarily in Enfield and Camden. You will work as part of a team supporting service users with primary diagnoses of autism and learning disabilities across North London with a focus on life skills and community participation. We accept experienced graduates, professionals from other disciplines interested in supporting teenagers and young adults in their home and local community, and candidates who have previously worked in ABA or PBS settings. Beam ABA Services adopts a "positive risk taking" approach in ensuring the young people we support are provided with opportunities that increase their independence and improve their quality of life.

Please note: We can offer visa sponsorship for candidates already living within the UK if you already work in Health and Social Care sector OR if you are currently on a Graduate or Student visa. We CANNOT sponsor overseas candidates at this time.

Responsibilities
  • To assist in the implementation of person centred programmes utilising Applied Behaviour Analysis and Positive Behaviour Support best practice
  • To support service users by teaching functional skills, developing communication systems, enhancing social skills under a framework that provides choice and promotes empowerment.
  • To monitor and take accurate data daily as per service users' targets
  • To support individuals during times of crisis - e.g., behaviours of concern, providing support as per prescribed Behaviour Support Plan strategies and protocols.
  • To ensure all programme materials are organised and accessible
  • To assist service user with self-help skills including personal care and hygiene needs (e.g., toileting, nappy changing, feeding, bathing, nail cutting, and medication)
  • To model best practice and professionalism at all times
  • To attend mandatory trainings, team meetings and self-directed e-learning modules
  • To promote safeguarding and wellbeing for service user to the highest standard
  • To implement restrictive techniques per service users positive handling plan as required
  • Flexibility to support service user during evenings and weekends
  • Other duties as required by your manager
Required qualifications and skills
  • 2 years of applied experience working with individuals with a diagnosis of learning disability and/or autism
  • Experience of supporting individuals who are non-verbal, with experience of promoting alternative modes of communication.
  • Experience of supporting individuals through periods of dysregulation, including episodes of behaviours of concern.
Preferred qualifications
  • Undergraduate Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or related field
  • Clean drivers' licence
  • 3 years of applied experience working with individuals with a diagnosis of learning disability and/or autism
  • Registered Behaviour Technician - or working towards
  • Experience utilising ABA methodology
Compensation and benefits
  • Full-time positions are available, paid at an hourly rate of £12.82-£14 depending on qualifications and experience, Immediate salary for full-time staff from £25,000- £27,300 based on 37.5 hour working week - overtime hours available. You should have availability to work across weekdays, evenings, and weekends, including 1-2 sleep-ins per week. Full training provided.
  • 30 days' paid holiday per year pro-rata plus full training
  • Discretionary contribution toward professional accreditation - opportunities to get RBT training, MSc in ABA, BCaBA and BCBA supervision, NVQ Level 3, Level 5, Level 7 certification.
