Job summary

We are recruiting to the Temporary Staffing Service. Existing TEWV students can join the bank as an internal HCA. TEWV has an established Temporary Staffing Service to help meet the needs of service users. This vacancy is open only to current MH or LD student nurses who are on placement within TEWV or have recently completed a placement within TEWV.

Student nurses must be on placement within the Trust or have recently completed a placement within the Trust, as TEWV will need a satisfactory reference from your TEWV practice placement mentor(s). Please ensure the placement is listed on your application form and that your TEWV placement mentor is listed as a referee (references covering the past 3 years of employment/education/activity).

Please list the month and year of your student nurse cohort, your expected year of completion of your nursing qualification, and when your training was last updated. Failure to provide this may result in your application being rejected.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK. This role is a Bank/zero hours contract and does not offer sponsorship. It does not meet the UK visa sponsorship criteria.

Main duties of the job

Support nursing teams within inpatient services to promote recovery. You will work directly with patients as part of a wider MDT, demonstrating empathy, compassion, understanding and patience, and you will need to work flexibly as required.

Job description and responsibilities

This is a unique opportunity available only to existing TEWV students to fast track onto the bank, enabling work and valuable experience within Forensic Services, Learning Disability and Mental Health Services for Adults and Older People Trust-wide. You will support nursing staff in meeting the needs of service users and work with our established workforce to deliver all aspects of care to promote choice and client independence.

Training Successful applicants will complete a mandatory training programme within the first 8 weeks (approximately 8 days for HCAs), including 5 consecutive days of face-to-face training in Positive and Safe Care. Applicants must be able to commit to this prior to applying.

Bank workers are not regular employees and have no entitlement to guaranteed or continuous employment. Bank hours are not transferable to placement hours, and you will not be able to undertake bank work in the same location as your current placement.
