Overview

We’re looking for a compassionate, experienced, and confident Deputy Nursing Home Manager to join a well-established care team in Port Talbot, South Wales. In this pivotal role you’ll provide strong clinical leadership and ensure high standards of nursing and personal care are delivered consistently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support residents with a range of complex and age‑related health needs.
  • Work closely with the Home Manager to lead the team, uphold compliance, and drive continuous improvement in care quality.
  • Lead by example, offering clinical guidance and mentoring colleagues.
  • Ensure person‑centred care is at the heart of everything you do.
  • Take on leadership duties in the Home Manager’s absence and cover day‑to‑day operations on the floor.
  • Assist with communication, care planning, and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Lead audits and ensure best practice is followed across the service.
  • Maintain accurate care plans and medication records.
Qualifications
  • Valid NMC PIN and current registration as a Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN).
  • Proven experience in managing or overseeing care for older people, ideally in a residential or nursing home setting.
  • Deep understanding of CQC regulations, person‑centred care planning, and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Confidence in making clinical decisions and leading audits.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate care plans and medication records.
  • Flexibility to cover out‑of‑hours when needed and willingness to work 44 hours per week, including some weekend working.
