We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank EDIC Clinical Coordinator to join our Primary Care team at HMP Pentonville, a category B remand prison located in London.

Pentonville has a large pharmacy where the medications are dispensed on the wings.

Salary: This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary of £25.14 per hour.

Main duties of the job

As an Early Days in Custody Team Lead, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Ensure patients have medical plans of care, assessing patients and carrying out relevant clinical investigations during their arrival, along with arranging follow-up appointments for them whilst offering advice and giving information.
  • Evaluate and ensure the safe transfer of patients to acute hospitals if needed, as well as ensuring that plans of care are understood by the patient and the prison as appropriate. You will be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills in clinical decision making.
  • Support in undertaking audits and governance.
  • Provide healthcare to patients on site in the healthcare unit and locations across the prison. This will include some emergency care such as suturing, providing emergency response to undertake dressings and performing a primary care function.
  • Lead a team of healthcare practitioners some in specialist roles to deliver an effective safe medical service within the prison.
