Job description
Job Summary

Bank CT/MRI Radiographer, Band 6, Cumberland Infirmary, up to 37.5 hours per week.

The department of Radiology at the Cumberland Infirmary is part of the directorate of radiology for North Cumbria and comprises general radiography, fluoroscopy, dental, angio (including coronary) CT, MRI, ultrasound facilities. The directorate undertakes approximately 230,000 examinations per annum and receives referrals from a wide range of specialties, including 24‑hour emergencies and primary care. The establishment includes consultant radiologists, a professional lead for radiology, radiographers up to band 8, nurses, admin & clerical staff, porters and other radiology support staff.

Main Duties
  • Work within the team that provides 24‑hour MR and CT services, playing a major part in the practical training of radiographers, students and other staff.
  • Take responsibility for the daily organisation of the service, amending workload and schedules to adjust for emergencies.
  • Ensure the wellbeing and positive experience of patients and carers in your locality.
  • Participate in research and suggest areas where formal audit and research could aid service quality and development.
Qualifications
Essential
  • Degree in radiography or equivalent.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Relevant postgraduate certificate or equivalent.
Desirable
  • Relevant post‑graduate diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate of competence in IV administration.
Knowledge

  • Well‑developed diagnostic radiography within an acute hospital.
  • Moving & handling the non‑independently mobile, including those with multiple injuries.
