Job description

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to announce the introduction of these new roles aimed at doctors who are passionate about their practice and their career outside traditional models. Our posts will combine education and career development with practical patient-facing care.

Main duties of the job

The Band C Managerial Dentist will work in partnership with the wider management team providing managerial leadership to a service operating across multiple sites, with several staff groups. They will represent MYTT CDS at West Yorkshire CDS Collaborative meetings and assist with information and data requests as the services settle into the new Collaborative. The managerial dentist would work with the services electronic dental record system (Dentally) provider and Trust IT to ensure the service is maximising Dentally’s functionality and reporting systems. The postholder will work in partnership with the wider community dental services team and will be responsible for the delivery of high quality, comprehensive, dental care to patients of all ages referred into the service across Wakefield District. This will include children and adults with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, mental health problems, medically compromised, severe anxiety, phobias, and traumatic dental injuries. The post holder may be involved in the training and supervision of joint dental foundation and core trainees (JDFCTs)

To meet the requirements of this role, applicants must demonstrate the following essential criteria:

  • Full GDC Registration with licence to practise
  • A Batchelor of Dental Surgery degree
  • Higher degree and/or additional postgraduate qualification or equivalent.
  • Eligible to be on the Dental Performers List
  • Completion of Foundation training or equivalence
  • Understands the functions of the Community Dental Services.
  • Awareness of the financial framework governing the delivery of oral health care in England and the constraints that might impose of service delivery
  • Up to date knowledge, skills and attitudes to the practice of dentistry in the UK
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Possess good organisational and personal management skills
