A major NHS trust in London is seeking an experienced Ward Manager for a 12-month fixed-term position to cover maternity leave. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of a busy surgical ward, ensuring high standards of patient care, and supporting the training and development of staff. The ideal candidate will have a registered nurse qualification and strong leadership skills to effectively manage patient care pathways. This is an exciting opportunity for a 12 month fixed term post as the ward manager for 7 North to cover maternity leave. 7 North is an exciting fast paced ward specialising in General Surgery, urology and includes the Surgical Assessment Area.
The successful post holder will be joining a fully established team with support from Matron and Clinical Practice Educator. Full training will be given alongside support. As ward manager the post holder will be responsible for the day to day running of the ward supporting patient flow and staff development and retention.
The post will incorporate the senior leadership role dimensions of expert clinical practice, education, leadership, management, and research. The post holder will be a highly skilled member of the nursing team responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of a high standard of care to patients and their families.
The post holder will be liaising with the Matron and Surgical assessment area (SAU) team to ensure utilisation and service development.
The post holder will engage fully with the developmental aspects of the role, seeking help and support when necessary.
