A leading healthcare provider in Birmingham is seeking a highly motivated nurse with a passion for palliative and end-of-life care. The successful candidate will join the Children’s Specialist Palliative Care Team and will be responsible for providing interventions based on comprehensive assessments. This role involves working collaboratively with children, families, and an integrated team to deliver 24/7 support. Applicants should possess advanced communication skills and a good understanding of symptom control. Flexibility in work hours is possible.
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated nurse who is passionate about palliative and end‑of‑life care to join the Children’s Specialist Palliative Care Team. Alongside the Clinical Lead you will play an active part in clinical practice, education, research/audit and the implementation of national guidelines. The successful applicant will work as part of a well‑established dynamic team who provide specialist advice and support to children, young people and their families and all members of the health‑care teams involved in the child/young person’s care.
The team consists of a specialist palliative care consultant, senior palliative care nurses, senior family support worker and nurse associates. We work very closely with the Children’s Community Nursing and Rapid Response Teams and the acute settings to ensure a high standard of care is offered to children/young people and their families throughout their palliative care journey.
The post holder will facilitate optimum quality of life for children and their families with life‑limiting / life‑threatening conditions. This will be achieved in collaboration with children and their families through provision of specialist palliative care nursing interventions based on comprehensive holistic assessment, agreement of goal‑focused care planning and education and support to both children and their families. The team supports children and young people and, working as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team, provides palliative, end‑of‑life care and bereavement support. The service offers 24/7 care, enabling timely symptom management and family choice around place of death.
