Job Summary

The Acute Elderly Unit Therapy Team in BHRUT are actively recruiting for a motivated and dynamic Band 7 Physiotherapist to join our team at Queen's Hospital, Romford, Essex. The team covers three acute elderly wards as part of the Frailty service provision. Working in a fast‑paced environment, you will expand your clinical skills, supervise and educate more junior staff, and deliver holistic, patient‑centred care.

As a Band 7 Physiotherapist you will act as an autonomous practitioner, leading complex assessment and discharge planning, supervising and mentoring Band 6, Band 5, student and therapy‑assistant staff, and contributing to service development with evidence‑based practice.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a specialist standard physiotherapy service to patients within the acute elderly team, with a special focus on assessment and optimisation of patient potential within service boundaries using a holistic approach.
  • Deliver specialist guidance, advice and education to other members of the multidisciplinary team on matters related to your specialist area.
  • Lead planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the physiotherapy service in conjunction with the Clinical Leads.
  • Teach, supervise and appraise peers, Band 6 and Band 5 physiotherapists, student physiotherapists and therapy assistants.
  • Deputise for senior colleagues in absentia, both in management and clinical areas.
  • Contribute to service running and development through the promotion, adaptation and creation of policies, procedures and guidelines using evidence‑based practice.
  • Undertake supervision, mentoring and performance‑development plans to promote clinical and professional effectiveness of self and others, including performance management and liaison with the Therapy Manager on disciplinary matters.
