Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly dedicated Bank 6 clinical Lead Nurse to join Swanswell Ward, one of our inpatient mental health teams based at The Caludon Centre, Coventry.
We welcome applicants who are committed to improving care for people who require inpatient mental health services and innovate practice within a ward setting. Applicants will need to have substantial post registration experience.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will be part of the Nursing team and work a span of duty including weekends and nights, to ensure that a high level of quality care is maintained. As part of the role you will support the Ward Manager in all aspects of delivering safe care to the patient group with an emphasis of ensuring quality and safety is maintained within the ward at all times.

Job Responsibilities
- Work as an integrated member of the team, with all service users needs within the unit, and hold a designated named clinician case load.
- Formulate and coordinate holistic assessment of mental and physical needs.
- Act as Nurse in Charge (NIC) and oversee shift management.
- Supervise and develop junior staff members, ensuring role competency sign‑off.
- Ensure a robust process for care plan formulation, review, evaluation of treatment and safety plans and report back to the multi‑professional team.
- Contribute to the maintenance and development of the social and physical therapeutic environment.
- Lead all areas of risk management within the ward, embedding patient risk, positive risk taking and environmental risk assessment and ensuring trust processes are adhered to and recorded.
- Lead high standards of clinical care and maintain service delivery based on evidence, clinical and professional judgement.
- Identify needs to facilitate a safe discharge.
- Lead and coordinate adherence to and reporting of safety & quality issues and report any concerns immediately.
- Have detailed working knowledge of key partnership services and organisations (e.g. voluntary sector, social services, housing), including eligibility criteria and access procedures.
- Lead and maintain a learning environment via mentorship, supervision and guidance to identified junior staff and students.
- Lead on Quality Improvement, liaise with the Quality Improvement team to support areas of practice development and coordinate staff training in improvement approaches.
- Support staff training and development in all areas appropriate to inpatient care.
- Lead on improving patient experience and co‑production on the Ward.
- Provide senior leadership across the acute system as deemed necessary.
Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification i.e. RMN/HCPC.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Willingness to undertake or hold Quality Improvement training.

Experience
