Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the Greater London area seeks a part-time Lead Civil / Structural Engineer for a major aviation project. The role involves providing technical leadership across civil and structural engineering scope areas, ensuring engineering quality, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting integration with airport operations. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and have relevant experience in large infrastructure projects. This position allows for significant telework, requiring at least three days of in-person attendance weekly.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading civil and/or structural engineering on large, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of design codes, engineering standards, and compliance requirements for aviation or transport projects.
• Demonstrated ability to manage design teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the civil and structural engineering design across airfield, landside, and building infrastructure.
• Manage the development, review, and approve design deliverables, specifications, calculations.
• Ensure all civil/structural works meet project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory obligations.
• Coordinate with architecture, MEP, geotechnical, and construction teams.
• Provide technical guidance on ground conditions and materials selection.
• Support constructability reviews and value engineering.
• Engage with airport operations and third-party stakeholders.

Skills

Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional accreditation

Experience in major UK airport or transport infrastructure projects

Knowledge of airport operations, governance processes

Excellent technical communication

Problem-solving skills

Education
