Motor Parts Advisor / Stores Person / Parts Technician

Location: West Sussex

Hours: Monday‑Friday, 08:00 – 16:30

Contract: Full‑time, Permanent

Automotive Parts Advisor/ Stores Person: The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Automotive Parts Technician / Parts Advisor with a strong background in a busy parts or stores environment? This is an exciting opportunity to join a well‑established, rapidly expanding operation supporting ground handling, repair, and maintenance services at the airport. You’ll be at the heart of the Supply Chain team, ensuring technicians, workshop teams and operations departments receive everything they need accurately, safely and on time. This role is hands‑on, customer‑facing and ideal for someone proactive, organised and confident working in a fast‑paced environment. Occasional travel to support other UK sites may be required.

Key Responsibilities
Materials Issue
  • Support technicians with prompt parts service.
  • Handle calls and issue materials accurately with correct documentation.
  • Order urgent parts, pick/pack stock, update SAP and deliver items as needed.
  • Provide updates on pending parts and produce daily critical‑parts reports.
Goods Inward
  • Receive and check deliveries, unload vehicles and manage goods‑in areas.
  • Report damaged or missing items, label and store stock correctly.
  • Operate forklift (if licensed) and collect supplier items when required.
Stock Control
  • Assist with stock counts and reconciliation.
  • Maintain accurate labels, bin locations and PPE traceability.
  • Ensure correct and safe storage of all items.
Outcomes / KPIs
  • Efficient workshop support and organised stores environment.
  • Accurate COSHH records and prompt reporting of issues.
  • Compliance with purchasing, stock and safety procedures.
  • Strong SAP and inventory management knowledge.
Health & Safety
  • Follow safety rules and use PPE correctly.
  • Report incidents or near misses and support investigations.
  • Contribute to continuous safety improvements.
ISO Compliance
  • Work to quality, environmental and H&S policies (ISO9001/14001, OHSAS18001).
  • Support waste segregation and IMS reporting.
Role Scope & Relationships
  • Involvement with supply chain operations, fleet/plant equipment, commercial vehicles and supplier coordination.
  • Key links with management, procurement, suppliers, supervisors and technicians.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • 23 years experience in a Parts Technician / Parts Advisor / Stores Person role.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle components or industrial/automotive parts.
  • Experience in a busy parts department (vehicle, HGV/LGV, plant, machinery, GSE, dealership, or similar).
  • Confident, friendly communicator comfortable dealing with technicians, suppliers and customers.
  • Strong IT skills with ability to learn multiple systems (SAP experience advantageous).
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a time‑critical environment.
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
Desirable
  • Basic mechanical or engineering knowledge.
  • GCSE A2 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Experience in estimating, purchasing systems or fleet support.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 working environments.
