Qualifications

  • Completed apprenticeship in electrical or control engineering.
  • City & Guilds, HNC/HND or NVQ in a related field.
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in a technician‑level role.
  • Confident communicator who builds trust with customers.
  • Willing to travel extensively and manage own schedule on the road.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK.

  • Build long‑term relationships with key customers.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rota once fully trained.
  • Attend manufacturer training courses in Vienna for certification.
  • Travel 3 to 4 days a week across the region.

Overview

Looking to grow your engineering career with a global leader in energy management and automation? We’re hiring a Junior Automation & Control Field Engineer to join our Schneider Electric Services team in the North West.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake site, planned maintenance, breakdown fault find & troubleshooting, system modifications, commissioning, in-house design engineering.
  • Provide sound engineering advice across a spectrum of engineering problems.
  • Undertake engineering design changes to existing systems.
  • Assist in new system build (design/testing).
  • Build long‑term relationships with key customers through regular on‑site support.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rota (approx. 1 week in 4) once fully trained and certified.
  • Attend manufacturer training courses in Vienna (2‑week blocks) leading to global MV VSD certification.
  • Travel 3 to 4 days a week across the region, with occasional overnight stays and rare international travel (e.g. Ireland, Austria).
