Location: Emsworth

Salary Scale: £13.80 to £15 per hour

GSL Education are now seeking a dedicated Autism Support Worker to join a vibrant, inclusive SEN school in Emsworth. You will play a key part in ensuring that pupils in our partner school continue to receive the personalised support they need to thrive both academically and socially.

About the Academy

A specialist secondary school in Emsworth where every pupil’s journey is unique. Children come here with moderate learning needs, physical or sensory challenges, language difficulties, or are on the Autism Spectrum. Within this safe and nurturing environment, they are encouraged to grow not only academically, but also physically, emotionally, and socially. Each child has an EHC Plan, ensuring the right support is always in place to help them thrive. Key Responsibilities

• To support students who struggle with their class work
• Facilitate a fun and friendly learning environment
• To provide support to the class teacher
• To help the class teacher prepare lesson materials and classroom boards
• To keep the classroom a tidy and presentable environment
• To encourage children to do their best
• Help manage classroom behaviour
• Listen to the children read and practice their phonics

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs (preferred, not essential)
• Experience working with SEN (in school, care, or voluntary settings) preferred, not essential
• Knowledge of and experience with behaviour management strategies
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents and other professionals
• A patient and nurturing approach to working with children
• Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEN practices and strategies
