Audit Senior Associate

Location : Leeds

A leading chartered accountancy practice are seeking an experienced and motivated Qualified Audit Senior Associate to join its growing Audit team based in Leeds. This opportunity would suit an ACA or ACCA qualified professional (or a candidate due to qualify shortly) who is commercially aware, well organised and looking to progress their career within a supportive and expanding firm.

The Role

The successful candidate will become a key member of a well-established audit team, delivering audit, advisory and accounting services to a diverse client portfolio including landed estates, charities, owner-managed businesses and FCA-regulated entities.

Key responsibilities include :
  • Managing and driving audit and accounting engagements from planning through to completion
  • Acting as a primary point of contact for senior members of clients’ finance teams
  • Taking ownership of audit fieldwork and completion, working closely with managers and partners
  • Contributing to the ongoing development and direction of the Audit team
  • Supporting ad hoc projects such as client advisory work, departmental initiatives and firm-wide working groups
  • Managing a small portfolio of audit assignments to support continued professional development

The Team

The Leeds Audit team consists of over 30 professionals, with a strong emphasis on long‑term development and internal progression. Clients are varied and include AIM‑listed companies, complex groups with overseas operations, owner‑managed businesses, charities and not‑for‑profit organisations.

The firm’s modern Leeds office is within walking distance of the city centre and with excellent transport links.

Candidate Requirements
Essential :
  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or due to qualify within the next few months)
  • Proven audit experience, including planning and completion
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially minded and client‑focused approach
  • Strong technical knowledge of current accounting and auditing standards
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments effectively
  • Comfortable working in a deadline‑driven environment
  • Proactive and collaborative working style
  • Strong IT skills including Excel and Word (experience with CCH accounts and audit automation is desirable)
Desirable :
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites
  • Experience with consolidated accounts
  • IFRS experience
