Job description

Associate Teacher

This position is offered on a 35-hour working week 08.15am – 3.45pm (Monday to Friday) based on a term time only basis (38 weeks per annum) and will offer a starting salary of £23,967.41 per annum.

As an Associate Teacher you will provide cover for lessons for short-term absences of our teaching staff on a day-to-day basis, covering tutor groups and lessons across the spectrum of the curriculum; the work is provided either by the absent teacher or alternatively the Head of Department for the lesson you will be covering.

The successful candidate will be an aspiring teacher, or a newly qualified teacher returning from travelling or relocating to the area, or indeed an individual interested and committed to providing the continuity of education to our students in a period of absence from their regular teacher. You will be a confident communicator, and will be someone who shares our values, our passion for learning, and our commitment to the wellbeing of everyone in our school community.

Following a period of partial school closure due to building works, from Spring 2026 we will start to see our refurbished building returned to the staff and students of Aylesford School, this is an exciting time for our students and staff.
