Associate – EL/PL & Complex Injury (Defendant)

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid)

Salary: Up to £70,000 D.O.E + excellent benefits

We’re working with a leading national defendant law firm seeking a talented Clinical Negligence Associate/ Senior Associate (5+ PQE) to join their highly regarded healthcare team in Birmingham.

The Opportunity

You’ll handle a varied and engaging caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims on behalf of major insurers, private hospitals, and independent healthcare providers.

Your work will span from early investigation and pre-litigation strategy through to fully contested litigation, with the chance to work closely alongside experienced partners and senior lawyers who are recognised nationally for their healthcare expertise.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-performing team that delivers exceptional service to clients while maintaining a friendly, down-to-earth culture.

Typical Work Includes
  • Managing a broad range of medical negligence claims for insured private healthcare clients.
  • Investigating liability and engaging in pre-litigation resolution.
  • Running multi-track clinical negligence cases through to trial.
  • Advising on coverage, indemnity, and insurer protocols.
  • Regular client contact and involvement in training and business development activities.
About You
  • Qualified Solicitor – ideally 5+ PQE.
  • Experience (or strong interest) in defendant clinical negligence or healthcare litigation.
  • Strong understanding of insurer-led work and client protocols.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and drafting skills.
  • Organised, proactive and able to handle complex medical and legal issues.
