Job description

An exceptional opportunity for a leading waste specialist to play a key role within one of the UK’s most highly sought-after consultancy firms. My client is looking for a forward-thinking waste specialist to help shape resource efficiency and sustainable development across major national and international projects.

About the Role

You’ll be part of a dynamic Resources & Waste team delivering innovative, high-profile work across the UK and globally. The role involves developing resource and waste management strategies, preparing waste-related environmental impact assessments, and producing construction waste management plans for major developments. You’ll play a key role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, maximising opportunities for circularity and resource efficiency, and supporting multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Develop resource and waste management strategies for local authorities and major development projects.
  • Lead the preparation of waste-related EIAs and construction waste management plans.
  • Ensure compliance with UK and EU environmental legislation and circular economy principles.
  • Manage technical delivery, budgets and quality across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Lead client liaison, proposal development and contribute to business development activities.
  • Travel within the UK and internationally when required.
Experience Required
  • Honours and master’s degree in environmental/civil/chemical engineering, environmental science or similar.
  • Full membership of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management.
  • Strong knowledge of UK/EU waste policy, legislation and circular economy principles.
  • Technical and financial understanding of waste storage, collection, treatment and recovery technologies (e.g., WTS, MRF, MBT, IVC, AD, WtE, pyrolysis, gasification).
  • Significant experience developing waste strategies, including use of lifecycle tools such as WRATE.
  • Experience working with international financial institutions (ADB, EBRD, EIB, World Bank) is desirable.
