Qualifications

  • Chartered Member of the RTPI or actively working toward chartership.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Strong understanding of UK planning legislation and policy.

  • Act as a friendly, knowledgeable first point of contact for clients.
  • Provide clear and accessible planning advice across a range of development proposals.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, statements, and planning documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with heritage specialists, barristers, and other professionals.
  • Represent the consultancy at Planning Committees, Hearings, and Public Meetings.

Job Title: Assistant Planner / Town Planner

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a long-established, multi-disciplinary planning and architectural consultancy as they look to appoint an ambitious Assistant Planner or Town Planner to join their friendly and collaborative team.

Their work spans high-end residential developments, commercial schemes, equestrian projects, and sporting facilities across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Berkshire.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Planner who is eager to take on responsibility and progress within a supportive environment. You'll work on a wide variety of projects, acting as a trusted point of contact for clients and contributing to the future growth of the practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a friendly, knowledgeable first point of contact for clients
  • Provide clear and accessible planning advice across a range of development proposals
  • Prepare high-quality reports, statements, and planning documentation
  • Undertake desktop assessments and site visitsWork independently and find creative solutions to planning challenges
  • Collaborate closely with heritage specialists, barristers, and other professionals
  • Attend and represent the consultancy at Planning Committees, Hearings, and Public Meetings
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of planning policy and legislation
  • Contribute positively to a small, close-knit, multi-disciplinary team
About You
  • Chartered Member of the RTPI or working toward chartership
  • Strong understanding of UK planning legislation and policy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, Gmail, and planning tools
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
Desirable (not essential)
  • Experience with CIL legislation, advertisement regulations, or footpath diversions
  • Understanding of Judicial Review procedures
  • Familiarity with Apple iMacs (training provided)
