Job description

We are on the lookout for an Assistant Technologist to join our Quality Garment team here at Tesco. This person will support to deliver safe, legal, responsibly sourced, quality products for the area always focusing on our customers and demonstrating value‑led behaviour.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Technical Manager and category team to ensure products meet specifications, Tesco standards, and customer expectations.
  • Contribute to developing consistent and efficient construction methods.
  • Collaborate to optimize supply chain costs and maintain quality controls, signing off products where appropriate.
  • Monitor quality and customer feedback, implementing proactive solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Support incident management by escalating issues and providing accurate data.
  • Share ideas for product benchmarking, process improvements, and innovation in New Product Development plans.
  • Provide input into category strategy, focusing on customer needs, sustainability, and ethical sourcing.
  • Stay informed on technologies that enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and improve sustainability (e.g., 3D, Digi-eye).
  • Assist suppliers in meeting audit requirements and driving continuous improvement.
  • Track supplier and product performance, communicating trends and insights to the team.
  • Uphold Tesco’s Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity and due diligence.
