Your team:

You will be part of a growing hub based at The Sun offices in London producing content for our US site the‑sun.com. This is an incredible opportunity to help shape the next phase of the‑sun.com’s development and play a vital role in its continued growth. This role is a perfect first step for an experienced reporter looking to move into editing, working in a fast-paced environment where you will handle everything from breaking news to entertainment and lifestyle.

Day to day you will:
  • Identify early morning trends and breaking news stories tailored specifically for a US audience.
  • Write four to six engaging stories each morning based on current trends.
  • Collaborate with the picture and video teams to ensure all content has high-quality visuals.
  • Partner with the US News Editor and Head of News on forward planning for major global events.
  • Develop your own exclusive stories, interviews, and video concepts.
  • Oversee the preparation and planning for major breaking news cycles.
  • Plan coverage around upcoming TV releases, movies, and books.
  • Provide leadership cover for the Assistant Editor during leave periods.
  • Support US news editors by briefing and editing reporters during afternoon shifts.
What we're looking for from you:
  • A strong background in news reporting and a deep understanding of what makes a story resonate with a digital audience.
  • Technical proficiency in audience analytics, social media trends and SEO best practices.
  • Proven track record of leading or mentoring reporters on a news desk.
