A local authority in the UK seeks an ambitious Assistant Engineer/Engineer to join the Highway Maintenance team. This position involves the planning, design, and delivery of road maintenance projects. Candidates should hold an HNC/D or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering and have relevant experience. Bradford District is currently undergoing a considerable transformational agenda and this is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Engineer/Engineer to join the Highway Maintenance team, who have responsibility for maintenance of around 2,000km of adopted road network. Reporting to the Senior Engineer and Principal Engineer, you will be involved in the planning, detailed design and delivery of our annual carriageway resurfacing work programmes and associated advance minor civil engineering works contracts. You will assist with the procurement, award and administration of contracts as well as the supervision of works on site. You will also assist with the procurement of various surveys and analysis of resulting data, to inform scheme programmes and treatment types.
You must have the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and partners both internal and external to the Authority and be an 'innovative' thinker who can enhance our teams and enable Highway Services to meet current and future challenges. You should be qualified to at least HNC/D or Technical NVQ Level 6 in Civil Engineering and have demonstrable experience post qualification. A full driving licence and the ability to drive to our different sites throughout the district is essential.
