Job summary

A recruitment firm based in Bournemouth is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support the financial operations of a fast-paced SME. Qualifications

  • 1-3 years experience in finance or accounting, within financial services or property finance is ideal.
  • Competence in using Xero or Sage and strong Excel skills required.
  • Highly organised with an excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and complete regular bank and control account reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies timely.
  • Process supplier invoices and staff expenses.
  • Manage debtor and creditor ledgers, keeping balances updated.
  • Record and maintain pre-payments and accruals.
  • Review employee expense claims and reconcile corporate card transactions.
  • Assist with month-end journals and management reporting.

Venture Recruitment Partners are supporting a fast‑paced, privately‑backed SME, based in Bournemouth, with their recruitment for a newly‑created Assistant Accountant position.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in finance who enjoys variety, responsibility, and working in a collaborative environment where you are supported and treated as a valued employee.

You will support the day‑to‑day financial operations, working closely with the Financial Controller and the wider finance team. You'll help maintain accurate financial records, support month‑end processes, and ensure the smooth running of accounting and reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing and completing regular bank, client, and control account reconciliations
  • Investigating and resolving reconciliation discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Processing supplier invoices, staff expenses, and payments
