Position: Mental Health Teaching Assistant
Location: Thatcham
Salary: £85 to £95 per day
Start Date: Immediate

A specialist school in Thatcham are looking for a recent graduate to join their team as a Mental Health Teaching Assistant. You will support vulnerable children and teenagers who have been diagnosed with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for an aspiring psychologist to build their experience in mental health support, promoting the opportunity for further study or training in the future.

Responsibilities
  • Work directly with children with a range of mental health challenges who may also present with additional learning difficulties such as Autism, ADHD, or behavioural challenges.
  • Provide academic support and emotional guidance; help pupils develop essential skills such as emotional literacy, self-regulation, positive social interactions and resilience.
  • Support the use and implementation of psychological strategies and approaches as appropriate (e.g., CBT, behaviour support plans, restorative practices).
  • Participate in safeguarding and de-escalation training and apply learning to address educational, social and therapeutic needs of each student.
