Job description

This highly successful and fast-growing client‑based asbestos consultancy is actively seeking a self‑driven, enthusiastic and commercially focused Asbestos Operations Manager based in London, with applications from the surrounding areas.

Qualifications and Experience

Ideally, the applicant should possess the P402/P403/P404 certificates or the equivalent RSPH, and the S301/CCP qualification, with significant experience working within this role and the asbestos industry.

Applicants must come from a strong technical, office, management, sales, accounts, consultancy and operational background within the asbestos industry.

Must have excellent communication, client‑facing, organisational, presentational, leadership and people‑management skills, and be fully conversant with the asbestos industry and Health & Safety procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) is required.

Responsibilities

Managing a team of surveyors/analysts and ensuring the UKAS accreditation is maintained.

Participating in training, mentoring staff, liaising with clients/customers, and maintaining compliance with all quality and technical procedures regarding asbestos.

Attending sites, carrying out audits and reporting analytical findings, producing accurate asbestos reports, updating databases, producing management plans, and quotations.

Running the operations side of the business – overseeing office, site staff and clients on a daily basis, coordinating contract operations with clients, dealing with invoices, and maintaining personnel records using the database–spreadsheets etc.

Producing method statements, risk assessment and related site paperwork, assisting with tenders and quotations, and developing and training the team. Involving staff with audits to improve quality and achieve client/staff satisfaction, ensuring projects are completed within the time scale, and managing an existing and new portfolio of contracts effectively.

Establishing and maintaining good relationships with the company’s large portfolio of clients, developing new business leads, and taking the business to the next step.
