Role Overview

We are seeking a creative and passionate Art Teacher to join secondary schools across Hastings and the surrounding areas of East Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who is committed to inspiring students through visual arts and helping them develop their artistic skills and creativity.

This role is suitable for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and are looking for long-term, permanent, or flexible teaching opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching Art and Design across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential KS5 opportunities in some schools)
  • Planning and delivering engaging, creative, and inclusive lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Encouraging students to explore a range of artistic techniques, media, and styles
  • Assessing, monitoring, and tracking student progress
  • Supporting students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and well‑managed classroom and studio environment
  • Collaborating with the wider Arts department and school staff
Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • A recognised degree in Art, Design, or a related subject
  • Strong subject knowledge of secondary Art curriculum and creative practice
  • Effective classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to develop their artistic skills
  • A professional, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to teaching
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
